Diaspora is a Yaupon Espresso supplier with local and indigenous ownership in Seattle. We’re proud to be the first people serving Yaupon Espresso.

Yaupon has been roasted, brewed, traded and consumed as a social beverage since the first presence of humans on Turtle Island (aka North America) long ago. Recent research on ancient ceramic remnants show Yaupon has indeed been brewed and consumed with cacao and maíz for thousands of years. 

With that inspiration and Washington-grown heirloom corn masa, we cooked up traditional Atole and added Yaupon. These three medicines made a perfect flavor triangle. The delicious beverage also provides a rich blend of complex carbohydrates, stimulating compounds and adaptogens.

Yaupon Atole is a time machine to the path of the ancient ones. The sustenance, energy, and love it emanates reminds us of the ancient trading routes of Turtle Island and how connected the people and the plants have been through time.
